ETHICALLY INNOVATIVE BUSINESS

At the heart of unlocking the step change needed to drive us forward from the current status quo and overcome the greatest challenges the world faces are innovative ideas and approaches.

Covid-19 has revealed a desperate need for rapid innovation. 2020 has highlighted that collectively we have been too slow in managing change and one of the biggest legacies of this pandemic will be the expectation that we can, and should, innovate faster.

Progress, however, requires adoption and to foster the adoption of new innovations, the most precious asset a business can build is trust – across all stakeholders.

For example, the CDEI AI Barometer highlights the key barriers for AI adoption, across all examined sectors, as being:

  • Algorithmic bias leading to discrimination

  • Lack of explainability of AI systems

  • Regulator resourcing impacting the ability of governance systems to address AI and data use

  • Failure of consent mechanisms, leading to the mass collection and use of data without people’s consent

  • Loss of public trust in institutions due to problematic AI and data use

This shows that trust, transparency and ethics are becoming the priority leadership values for organisations embracing new technologies and ethical, transparent and fair approaches are a proactive lens through which businesses can reshape their culture, people, technology and risk in order to build public trust.

The business challenge is to be ethical, inclusive and human-centric whilst innovating quickly.

Within our focus on ethical innovation we explore discussion topics including leveraging technology, research ethics, collaboration and data transparency to name a few.

If you have a topic you would like to see covered, get in touch and we will explore it further.
